Old quilts

I recently told you that I love old quilts. I wanted to show you some that I have laying around our house.

I like to fold them and put them on top of our cabintets. These are a few that my mom and my granny gave me.

The green and white quilt was my bedspread when I was growing up.

This one we had at home and I would cover up in it every night watching T.V.

All the quilts have so many good memories. What gets me most is how they have held up over the years. I know a few of them have got to be over 40 years old.

Happy memories and treasured dreams!

School on a Snow Day

We woke up to this this morning.

We knew it was coming. My sons have been preparing for this. They have got their snow gear gathered, located their sled, and called friends.

Our cows don't seem to mind the snow. They love to have their picture taken. They always are looking at me. It could be they want more grain. My husband fed this morning. They know who gives extras at this place.

Everything is quiet on this Snow Day.
No laughing kids, making hot cocoa, or loud music!
They have school on this Snow Day. They were so mad that they had to go to school. All of the other schools in our area got out but ours. There will be no sledding on this day. I hope I can get to school this afternoon to pick them up. They would be really mad if they have to spend the night.

Are you enjoying a winter wonderland today?

Needlepoint and Candy

I have a aunt that has lived in several different parts of the world. When I was growing up she would give me gifts from the different places that she lived. She brought me dolls, oranments, and clothes. I loved all the gifts and learning about the different places that she had traveled. I still love to get gifts from my aunts. Its something about their gifts that make them so special.

One thing she would give me from time to time was needlepoint pictures. At the time,my mom loved them because she decorated my room with them. When I was young I thought the pictures were pretty and knew she spent lots of hours on them.

Why didn't she get some toy or candy.

As the years passed I started to treasure these pictures more and more.

I now get to decorate our house with my aunt's needlepoint.I have kept all of the things she has made me. Even though I have had some of them for years they have held up really well.

These are a few that she has made for me over the years.

This one is one of my favorites. She made this as a baby gift for my oldest son. As you can see she is very talented.

May your day bring happiness and pleasant memories!

Spring Dreams on Open Fields

This time of year on the farm the fields are always bare. All the crops are gone for the year and the land is ready to be planted come spring. We have been spending lots of time planning for planting season. Come spring the fields will be planted with corn and beans on our farm. When the weather warms up thats when our busy season starts.

This is our field with wheat.I think it must be the only green thing that is around right now. Everything else is all brown. Maybe, I will plant our yard in wheat next year so it will be green in the winter.

My family spends lots of time dreaming of tractors, combines, and sprayrigs in the fields. All these dreams will turn into reality come spring.

Are you dreaming of Spring in the middle of winter?

Always happy thoughts from Barn Creations!

Barn Quilts

I love old quilts. They all tell some kind of story. Some have traveled many of miles, others have been passed from generation to generation. Whether they are faded over time or torn from years of use. They all hold a special place in my heart.

After running across a article on barn quilts. I started making barn quilts to be on display outside of our house. I display my barn quilts on our fence. I have been ask numerous times what these are.

These are a few that I have made:

I can't believe how good these have held up. They have been on our fence for a few years now. In all types of weather. They still look the same as they did when I first hung them on our fence.

May your Monday be peaceful!
